Recruitment
Barriers to clinical trial participation disproportionately impact underrepresented communities. Limited access due to centralized trial locations, travel burdens, and rigid schedules makes enrollment difficult. Awareness gaps and lack of communication with primary care providers further reduce participation, while historical mistrust fosters reluctance.
To improve inclusivity, trial designs must remove unnecessary exclusion criteria, expand site accessibility, and enhance outreach efforts. Clear communication, provider involvement, and logistical support can boost engagement and retention. A participant-centered approach ensures clinical trials are more equitable, generating results that reflect the diverse populations they aim to serve.
